  2. UGears Tugboat mechanical model kit

    UGears Tugboat mechanical model kit

    SKU: 10245

    $49.99

As you might have noticed, we at Ugears love the sea and marine devices inspire our creativity. If you ever wanted to sail the free waves towards the blurred line where the water blends with the sky, you will need this new sweet nautical model to help you prepare for you.

The idea behind the tugboat was to create a functional mechanism, but with a certain spice that would make it both down-to-earth and interesting. And of course – it was supposed to be a type of marine transport.

We like to think that many of you enjoy watching the working of the gears as much as we do, this is why the detailed body of the Tugboat is designed to expose the beautiful mechanism in motion. This way you will be able to fully appreciate the main technical features we implemented in this model.

The Tugboat is driven by a rubber-band motor powered by the tension of the rubber connected with a bearing. The reduction gear transfers energy to the drive wheel and further to the asymmetrical wheel pair. The pendulum slows and evens the motion of the tugboat.

The asymmetry of the wheel pair grants the model its unique way of moving, imitating a boat rocking on the waves, while the working pendulum creates a specific noise similar to one produced by the real-life diesel motor many boats are equipped with.

The winding key on the drive wheel is blocked by a ratchet gear. There are two control levers, one of which stops the mechanism and the other launches it – stop and start lever correspondingly.

Use two ropes with hooks to hook up and transport small freight – wheeled models or a paper boat. Your Tugboat will run from 1.5 to 3 meters depending on the type of surface.

The port is the gate of the sea. Open this gate, get ready for your journey, be the master of the harbour with your new sweet and reliable Tugboat from Ugears.

The Ugears Tugboat mechanical model kit is comprised of 169 parts made of sustainably sourced high grade wood and has everything you will need for assembly (including thread, hooks and ropes). The quality of the parts is top-notch: a laser method is used for cutting items from a plywood board that provides precise hairline cuts. The details have to be pulled out of the boards and assembled to create a complete model. Like all other Ugears models, the Tugboat comes with step-by-step, full-color, truly easy to follow instructions in 11 languages (English, German, Ukrainian, French, Polish, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Italian, Chinese and Korean) and requires neither glue nor special tools to be fully assembled into functional Tugboat.

  3. Ugears Tower Windmill mechanical kit

    Ugears Tower Windmill mechanical kit

    SKU: 10240

    $89.99

The Tower Windmill from Ugears is more than a mechanical puzzle. It is an exciting adventure into the history of old England. The model is based on the Chesterton Windmill, a 17th-century cylindrical stone tower windmill that was built outside the village of Chesterton, Warwickshire county. Built around 1632-33, the Windmill was restored between 1965 and 1974 and today it is the earliest tower mill in England to retain any of its working parts.

This unique construction with an arched base was presumably built by a prominent figure of the period, Sir Edward Peyto that owned Chesterton Manor at that time.

Sir Edward was an enthusiastic mathematician and astrologer, which brought up the presumption that the tower mill was initially designed to become an observatory. Although there is no evidence to support this theory and we can only guess what had driven the post-medieval nobleman to create this beautiful and unique windmill.

This Ugears model designed in “Victorian steam-punk skeleton” style is based on a prototype from Chesterton.

When spinning rapidly the aerodynamic twist sails create fairly strong wind. It also can work the other way around: blowing air directed at the sails will make them spin. Use a fan to demonstrate to your kids how real windmills operate.

A double planetary gear reducer with differently shaped gears provides the necessary speed.

The model is powered by a removable rubber band motor. Once the motor is removed, the Windmill can work in a manual mode that allows you to observe and examine the fascinating complex mechanism in detail.

The rubber band motor drives the sails by means of a screw conveyor (worm feeder) and gear transmission. The design of the gear transmission includes a flexure link, the type of chain drive assembled out of many small links. The full-fledged chain drive made out of plywood has never been used in the Ugears models before.

Resembling a spiral staircase, the rotating base of the arched tower is a part of the screw conveyor mechanism that is a chief part of the model’s mechanism. Fascinating mechanics of the moving gears will captivate your attention for a long time.

While taking origin from the English prototype, the Ugears model also addresses the Spanish classic: the Tower Windmill comes with the figures of the Ingenious Nobleman Don Quixote and his quirky companion Sancho Panza.

The Ugears Tower Windmill model kit is made of sustainably sourced high grade wood and has everything you might need for assembly. The quality of the parts is top-notch: a laser method is used for cutting items from a plywood board that provides precise hairline cuts. The details have to be pulled out of the boards and assembled to create a complete model. Like all other Ugears models, the Tower Windmill comes with step-by-step, full-color, truly easy to follow instructions in 11 languages (English, German, Ukrainian, French, Polish, Spanish, Russian, Turkish, Italian, Chinese and Korean) and requires neither glue nor special tools to be fully assembled into functional working Windmill.

“Fire Ladder” mechanical model kit by Ugears

    SKU: 12696

    $99.99

The Fire Truck is a self-propelled wooden model from the new UGEARS Trucks collection. Intelligent design mixed with smart engineering inside. The Fire Truck functions like a real Rescue& Fire Truck with turning foot, moving apart & ascending ladder, which transforms into real crane with hook.

The UGEARS Fire Truck is equipped with the retractable 3-Section Fire Ladder on a rotating platform. Length when fully extended – 70cm. The Fire Ladder has several controls. Press the lever and lift up the ladder. Turn the platform to the right or to the left. Fix the selected position with a special ratchet. All three sections of the ladder are extending ahead. Ascend the ladder and you’ll get a real crane with hook at its end.

There is even a little ladder to help Firemen to climb on the truck in few seconds. Like in a real Fire Truck it is mounted on back.

Based on UGM-11 Truck, the Fire Truck is equipped with a four-cylinder rubber band engine and moves on its own forward in the “drive” mode and back on “reverse” transmission mode. Start the engine in 'idle mode' and look at four pistons which move realistically under the folding hood.

Made from sustainable wooden materials the kit has all you need for assembly: a set of high-quality plywood boards with precisely cutout parts, detailed step by step instructions and several spare parts inside.

The cutting is well done; each of the parts comes out of the plywood sheets easily. No glue and special tools are needed for putting the model together. You can assemble it at home on the table. Fits together like a puzzle without glue or special tools thanks to UGEARS’ patented plywood joints

Assemble without glue like all UGEARS models by step-be-step, truly easy to follow, color instruction manual. Pre-cut parts are easily pressed out from the board.

  5. V-Express Steam Train with Tender mechanical model kit by UGears

V-Express Steam Train with Tender mechanical model kit by UGears

    SKU: 10213

    $89.99

The Victorian Age filled with the spirit of the Industrial Revolution is a source of internal inspiration for designers and engineers. Ugears turns to this fascinating era once again to create the V-Express Steam Train with Tender.

The main symbol of the Industrial Revolution, a powerful and beautiful locomotive is a historical benchmark commencing the time of global technological and economic transformation of society. Ugears Express is prepared to take you on a journey to this exciting age of inventions and innovations.

The minutely detailed futuristic design of the V-Express reveals the beauty of moving details: gears and a flywheel, the work of cylinder-piston arrangement – almost an exact miniature copy of one of the main mechanical blocs of a real locomotive.

One full winding will give your V-Express energy enough to cover a distance of up to four meters (13 feet). You can change the direction of movement by switching a small lever on the side of the models’ body. The locomotive has three settings: forward, back and idle. When the mechanism of the model is working in idle, you can safely observe the work of the moving elements without having to worry that your train will race off into the blue. If you want to test another exciting option of your new model – switch it into the “Back” setting. The V-Express will roll back and automatically hook up with its tender.

The Tender of the V-Express Steam Train is worth mentioning as a separate point. The coal car with lifting sides has a hatch that you can lock with a tiny latch. Of course, driven by a rubber-band motor, the locomotive needs no coal, which leaves plenty of room in the tender for some small cargo you might want to deliver: sweets, knickknacks and messages. The V-Express Steam Train with Tender kit also includes 2.45 meters (96.5 inches) of tracks.

Assembling the Ugears’ locomotive you will feel like an inventor engineer discovering for the first time the magic of the complex mechanism taking shape in your hands. A train is always a journey. Ugears can guarantee that with the new exciting V-Express Steam Train your adventure will be anything but boring!

The Ugears V-Express Steam Train with Tender model kit is made of sustainably sourced high grade wood and has everything you might need for assembly. The quality of the parts is top-notch: a laser method is used for cutting items from a plywood board that provides precise hairline cuts. The details have to be pulled out of the boards and assembled to create a complete model. Like all other Ugears models, the Steam Train comes with step-by-step, full-color, truly easy to follow instructions in 11 languages (English, German, Ukrainian, French, Polish, Spanish, Russian, Turkish, Italian, Chinese and Korean) and requires neither glue nor special tools to be fully assembled into functional self-propelled Train with Tender.

  6. Ugears Butterfly mechanical kit

    Ugears Butterfly mechanical kit

    SKU: 12020

    $49.99

Fascinated by the unique synergy of nature and mechanics, Ugears continues to explore the amazing world of automatons and presents its latest mechanical pet, the Butterfly model.

The Butterfly is not a static stand model, but an animated kinetic sculpture. Each of its details designed to make sure it fits its own place and plays its own part in the workings of this outstanding mechanism. Equipped with a rubber-band motor, the mechanical automaton moves imitating the flutter of a butterfly with no external power source or batteries.

As with every model in the Ugears family, The Butterfly requires no glue or additional tools to assemble. You will build your new model out of ready-made details that come precisely pre-cut in high quality natural plywood boards.Slightly pushed, the details easily pop out of the board.

The assembly is constructed by blocks: initially, the details must be put together to form smaller blocks that in their turn will compose the whole model. The process of assembly is described in a comprehensive step-by-step instruction manual with detailed color illustrations, in 11 languages (English, German, French, Polish, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Japanese, Italian, Chinese, and Korean). The size of the assembled model is 290 х 550 х 400 mm. The set includes 161 details.

The delicate wings of The Butterfly are made of craft paper. The lower wings change their tilt angle when the model is working to ensure that the movements of the automaton resemble those of a real butterfly. Two front pairs of its legs move while the wings flutter. The back pair of legs are used as launch/stop levers of the rubber-band motor. Your Butterfly comes with two sets of wings: a color one and a less bright, beige one, that you can paint as you like.

The Butterfly sits on a flower-shaped platform. The elastic support slightly bounces the model, making its movements more realistic so that The Butterfly dances and flutters in the air approaching the flower.

Ugears strives to share its knowledge and passion for smart mechanisms with children and adults, kids and parents. We want the complex and beautiful world of mechanics to become closer and more comprehensive. This is why the body of The Butterfly is designed in a skeleton-style, which allows you to see the working of gears and blocks inside and understand how the mechanism works.

This interesting and attractive model is fun to assemble, study, and play with. It can be a wonderful present to a friend, colleague or family member. The delicate iconic design from Ugears guarantees that your new model will look gorgeous in any home or office.

  7. UGears Horse-Mechanoid mechanical model kit

    UGears Horse-Mechanoid mechanical model kit

    SKU: 10202

    $59.99

Before the Age of Steam took over the world, drastically changing every sphere of human activity, the only reliable transport available to travellers had been strong and fast horses. Ugears looks away from high end technologies and ultrahigh-speed to appreciate the time of travelling by horse-back with a model joining nature and mechanics – the Bionic Horse.

Making the Horse quadrupedal was one of the project’s main challenges. In the walking mechanisms designed by many engineers before, stability of the moving construction was realized by means of additional extremities or other extra-supports. Ugears’ wizards have found a smarter way to achieve stability in motion. The absolutely unique mechanism of the model that makes your Horse a real quadruped is a brand new innovation developed by Ugears and presented for you to test for the first time ever.

The designers paid special attention to the anatomy of the animal’s legs to make sure that all the joints and movements closely resemble those of a real horse. To animate the legs the engineers implemented a claw mechanism.

The bionic heart of your horse is a pendulum installed in the chest of the mech. The oscillations of the pendulum slow the transmission of energy from the rubberband motor to the movable elements extending the working time of the mechanism.

The Bionic Horse won’t carry you over the horizon – the distance it can cover in one winding is quite limited. Although, it is enough to observe the work of the unique mechanism and enjoy the beauty of the mechanics of the model.

The mane and tail of the horse that are meant to flow in the wind are made of flexible rubber bands. When moving, the mechanoid shakes its head swaying its soft rubber mane.

Mechanical horse is a tribute to early automatons, the attempts to create a walking machine made by the Ancient Greeks, inventors of Japan and China, and Leonardo da Vinci himself. Let go of the rush and haste of modern times. Withdraw yourself from the race for some time to hop on the relaxing – but no less exciting! – stroll with the new Bionic Horse from Ugears!

The Ugears Horse-Mechanoid model kit is made of sustainably sourced high grade wood and has everything you might need for assembly. The quality of the parts is top-notch: a laser method is used for cutting items from a plywood board that provides precise hairline cuts. The details have to be pulled out of the boards and assembled to create a complete model. Like all other Ugears models, the Horse-Mechanoid comes with step-by-step, full-color, truly easy to follow instructions in 11 languages (English, German, Ukrainian, French, Polish, Spanish, Russian, Turkish, Italian, Chinese and Korean) and requires neither glue nor special tools to be fully assembled into functional self-walking Horse.

Craft, Plant, Water, GROW! 2 hot trends in one complete crafting kit.

Turn this plastic mason-style jar into your own little habitat with real plants and tin figurines. Set includes a 5" h x 3-1/4" w jar, decorative lid, potting mix, organic chia and wheat grass seeds, garden figurines, decorative sand, river stones and a plant mister. Add dimension to your garden with translucent and glow-in-the-dark stickers - hold it up to the light and watch the fireflies glow.

A terrarium is a miniature garden in a simulated natural environment. The Grow N’ Glow Terrarium is a complete kit for helping kids to create their very own miniature eco-system. It’s so easy!

You just assemble, decorate, water and watch it grow! It’s a fun way to teach kids about botany, eco-systems and the life cycle of plants. Kids love to see how things work and especially how the magic of seeds, soil, sun and water will blossom into green plants!

This is a great lesson in cause-and-effect, responsible stewardship and delayed gratification, since the terrarium needs to be misted each day for the seeds to sprout and grow. Like keeping a pet, the plants will only thrive if they’re given water each day – but no worries – if they forget to water it they learn the importance of water to the life cycle! And when they do water it, the seeds begin to shoot up in three to four days.

Creativity for Kids Grow N’ Glow Terrarium is fun for both boys and girls – all year long! Kids will experience the accomplishment of growing their own little habitat.

The Grow N’ Glow Terrarium is the perfect STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, ART, Math) experience.
