Set in Renaissance England, it tells the story of Tom Canty, a pauper, and Edward VI, only son of Henry VIII, who look exactly alike. Almost by accident, the boys exchange places days before Henry's death and Edward's coronation, leaving Tom to the role of future king and Edward to the mercy of the beggars' underworld. A tale of mistaken identity played out in two very different socio-economic worlds where each boy learns something about the other's different station in life. This story was ahead of its time proving that deep down all men are the same, just their clothes or their access to wealth makes them different. #1339
