  1. Imhotep Builder of Egypt Board Game

Imhotep Builder of Egypt Board Game

    SKU: 13244

    $39.95

Imhotep The legendary architect of the Egyptian monuments. His awe-inspiring structures and brutal tactics earned him divine status among ancient Egyptians. Can you match his ruthless determination to build the most revered monuments?

To do this, you will need to transport stone blocks on ships from your quarry to different construction sites. But you alone do not choose where the ships go. Your opponents have monumental plans of their own and want to prevent your success. A fierce competition for the precious stone resources plays out. Only with the right strategy and a little luck can you succeed.

In Imhotep, the players take on the roles of ancient Egyptian architects. Over six rounds, they try to transport their stone blocks to end up in the most valuable positions at five construction sites: pyramid, obelisk, chamber tomb, temple, and market. But a player can only choose one of three actions in a turn: excavate a new stone block from the quarry, load a block onto a ship, or move a ship to a construction site. From there, the massive stone blocks must be unloaded in order from bow to stern and placed on the sites in preset sequences. Depending on where the blocks end up, players earn different point values either immediately or at the end of the game. In each turn, you must weigh your options for getting your own stones into place and thwarting your opponents’ placement plans. You must get your blocks to the right places, in the right order, at the right time to be the greatest architect.

    SKU: 6033

    $16.99

This 192-page book increases vocabulary, stimulates imagination, and boosts standards-based language arts skills. Each of the lessons teaches PSAT and/or SAT vocabulary words, which are made up of dynamic, real-life words students may encounter while reading or use in their writing. Each lesson contains definitions, pronunciation keys, parts of speech, and alternate choices for each word made up of synonyms, idioms, and/or phrases. There are several activities, including a story involving students in a classroom setting. Students complete a variety of exercises requiring critical reading and writing skills to contextualize the words. The exercises deliberately use other forms of the words as different parts of speech, so that students learn to recognize these forms as variations of the original words— further expanding their vocabulary and enabling them to use the words in more contexts. The correct spelling of vocabulary words are emphasized with the jumble activity that asks students to unscramble the word before writing the correct spelling. Whether used in the traditional classroom, as a homeschooling resource, or for independent study, Vocabulary Virtuoso is a highly effective and fun vocabulary resource! The History of the Renaissance World: From the Rediscovery of Aristotle to the Conquest of Constantinople

    SKU: 2621

    $35.00

A lively and fascinating narrative history about the birth of the modern world. Beginning in the heady days just after the First Crusade, this volume—the third in the series that began with The History of the Ancient World and The History of the Medieval World—chronicles the contradictions of a world in transition. Popes continue to preach crusade, but the hope of a Christian empire comes to a bloody end on the walls of Constantinople. Aristotelian logic and Greek rationality blossom while the Inquisition gathers strength. Kings and emperors continue to insist on their divine rights, but ordinary people all over the world seize power. New currencies are created, new weapons invented, and world-changing catastrophes alter the landscape: the Little Ice Age and the Great Famine kill millions, the Black Death millions more. In the chaos of these events, our own world begins to take shape. Follow the story back; check out the History of the Medieval World and the History of the Ancient World! Hardbound. 816 pages. Wonders of Old: A Blank Timeline Book of World History

    SKU: 4368

    $24.95

Wonders of Old spans from 5000BC – the Present and beyond History comes alive when your student records significant historical events in his own hand. He will make connections between historical events by recording entries across academic subjects… * kingdoms * empires * rulers * scientists * literature * great writers * musicians * and so much more! It is a proven fact that completing timelines help cement historical facts for students and adults alike. A timeline can become the compilation of a student’s learning. Seeing the progression of time in the form of a timeline will allow your student to gain a better understanding of the flow of history. The truth is… many students may study the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks, the end of Hundred Years’ War between France and Britain, and the printing of the first book, the Gutenberg Bible, never realizing that these three events all happened within the same year – 1453AD. These events are seemingly unrelated and yet the use of a timeline can unlock the mystery as to why all of these events occurred within the same year. A timeline will give your student a unique perspective of time. By seeing the events of history recorded in linear progression, your students will make connections between those events in history that they might not otherwise make. Wonders of Old is divided into four historical time periods: ancient, medieval, new world and modern. Significant dates are listed at the conclusion of each section as a helpful reference. This hardcover book measures 9×12 and is printed on extra thick 70# paper for durability. Bonus CD-ROM included! The CD-ROM contains the entire Wonders of Old book in digital format so that you can print out multiple copies for additional children or extra pages to insert into your book should you run out of room on a page (doesn’t happen too often!). Science in the Ancient World Student Text by Dr. Jay Wile

    SKU: 8769

    $34.50

Science in the Ancient World, the second in a planned series of books by Dr. Jay Wile, is a hands-on, multilevel elementary science series that introduces scientific concepts using history as its guide. Because each lesson is built around an activity or experiment, it is engaging for all K-6 students. In addition, there are three levels of review for each lesson, so the parent/teacher can choose the depth at which each student is expected to grasp the material. The course contains roughly 90 hours of instruction, 35 of which are composed of hands-on activities. The course covers the scientific work of natural philosophers who lived from about 600 BC to the early AD 1500s. It concentrates mostly on what these ancient scientists got right, but it does spend some time discussing what they got wrong, because even the mistakes that scientists make can sometimes advance our understanding of the natural world. Of course, when the students are taught something that is now known to be incorrect, they are made aware of this fact! Because the course covers science as it was developed, it covers a wide range of topics including human anatomy, medicine, optics, heliocentrism, geocentrism, sound, music, magnets, how steam is used to generate power, the motion of objects through a medium, combustion, levers, pulleys, plant growth, plant anatomy, tree ring dating, the atmosphere, astronomy, the basics of graphing, plastics, density, water flow, friction, and erosion. Throughout the course, students learn that most of the great scientists who lived from AD 500 to the end of this time period were devout Christians who did science because they thought they could learn more about God by studying His handiwork.298 pages with glossary and index. Hardcover. Elementary Grades K-6. From Berean Builders. Contains Christian content. Helps and Hints for Science in the Ancient World is also available (sold separately - Item #8770).
